Under the tree
Is an all new toy.

Christmas is hope
Let us all skip
The spinning rope.

Christmas is peace
Christmas is peace
It always comes
With amazing grace.

Christmas is light
Christmas is light
Streets and homes are
Shiny and bright.

Christmas is here
Christmas is here
Bringing everybody
Near and dear.

Deck the Halls (All Groups)

Deck the halls with boughs of holly,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Tis the season to be jolly,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Don we now our gay apparel,

Fa la la, la la la, la la la.

Troll the ancient Yuletide carol,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

See the blazing Yule before us,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Strike the harp and join the chorus.

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Follow me in merry measure,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

While I tell of Yuletide treasure,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Fast away the old year passes,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Hail the new, ye lads and lasses,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Sing we joyous, all together,

Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Heedless of the wind and weather,

Fa la la la la, la la la la

Jingle Bells (All Groups)

Dashing through the snow
In a one horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob tails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh, Hey,
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way

Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

A day or two ago
I thought I'd take a ride
And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side
The horse was lean and lank
Misfortune seemed his lot
We got into a drifted bank
And then we got upsot

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh, Hey,
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh yeah

Frosty the Snowman (All Groups)

Frosty the Snowman
Was a jolly happy soul
With a corncob pipe and a button nose
And two eyes made out of coal
Frosty the Snowman
Is a fairy tale they say
He was made of snow
But the children know
How he came to life one day

There must have been some magic
In that old silk hat they found
For when they placed it on his head
He began to dance around
Frosty the Snowman
Was alive as he could be
And the children say
He could laugh and play
Just the same as you and me

Frosty the Snowman
Knew the sun was hot that day
So he said let's run
And we'll have some fun
Now before I melt away

Down to the village
With a broomstick in his hand
Running here and there all around the square
Saying catch me if you can
He led them down the streets of town
Right to the traffic cop
And he only paused a moment when
He heard him holler stop

Frosty the Snowman
Had to hurry on his way
But he waved goodbye
Saying don't you cry
I'll be back again someday

Thumpety thump thump
Thumpety thump thump
Look at Frosty go
Thumpety thump thump
Thumpety thump thump
Over the hills of snow

A Christmas Angel (Tune of "If You're Happy and You Know It") (Sparks, Brownies)

Oh, I wish I was an angel on the tree.
Oh, I wish I was an angel on the tree.
I'd give every girl and boy
Lots of Christmas peace and joy.
Oh, I wish I was an angel on the tree.

Christmas Is Coming – 2-Part Round (Guides, Pathfinders, Rangers)

Christmas is coming,
The goose is getting fat,
Please put a penny
In the old man's hat.

If you haven't got a penny,
A ha'penny will do,
If you haven't got a ha'penny,
Then God bless you.

Hello Santa (Tune:  Where Is Thumbkin?) (Sparks, Brownies)

Hello Santa.  Hello Santa.

How are you?  How are you?

Busy making games,

Checking children’s names.

How are you?  How are you?

Hello Elves.  Hello Elves.

How are you?  How are you?

Busy wrapping toys,

For the girls and boys.

How are you?  How are you?

Hello Rudolph.  Hello Rudolph.

How are you?  How are you?

Landing on your toes,

Shining up your nose.

How are you?  How are you?

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (All Groups)

You know Dasher and Dancer

And Prancer and Vixen,

Comet and Cupid

And Donner and Blitzen.

But do you recall

The most famous reindeer of all?

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer (reindeer)

Had a very shiny nose (like a light bulb)

And if you ever saw it (saw it)

You would even say it glows (like a flash light)

All of the other reindeer (reindeer)

Used to laugh and call him names (like Pinocchio)

They never let poor Rudolph (Rudolph)

Join in any reindeer games (like Monopoly)

Then one foggy Christmas Eve

Santa came to say (Ho, Ho, Ho)

Rudolph with your nose so bright

Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?

Then all the reindeer loved him (loved him)

And they shouted out with glee (yippee)

"Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer (reindeer)

You'll go down in history!" (like Columbus)

Reindeer Pokey (Tune:  Hokey Pokey) (Sparks, Brownies)

You put your hooves in
You put your hooves out
You put your hooves in
and you shake 'em all about
You do the reindeer pokey
And you turn yourself around
That's what it's all about.

You put your antlers in
You put your antlers out
You put your antlers in

And you shake it all about
You do the reindeer pokey
And you turn yourself around
That''s what it's all about.

You put your tail in
You put your tail out
You put your tail in
And you shake it all about
You do the reindeer pokey
And you turn yourself around
That's what it's all about.

Christmas Song (Tune:  I’m a Little Teapot) (Sparks, Brownies)

I’m a little snowman, round and fat

Here is my scarf and here is my hat.

When Christmas comes around just hear me shout,

“Here comes Santa.  You better watch out!”

I’m a little light bulb, round and bright,

Here is my twinkle, oh, what a sight!

When Christmas comes around just plug me in,

And watch me blink again and again.

I’m a little Christmas tree, short and green,

Here are my branches, the cutest you’ve seen.

When I get all decorated, hear me cheer,

“Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!”

 S-A-N-T-A (Tune:  Bingo) (All Groups)

Red hat, (Pretend to put on a hat.)
white beard, (Pretend to stroke your beard.)
a twinkle in his eye. (Point to the corner of your eye and twist your finger back and forth.)

Santa is his name-o. (Pat your big, round tummy.)
S-A-N-T-A

S-A-N-T-A
S-A-N-T-A
And Santa is his name-o. (Pat your big, round tummy.)

Red hat, white beard, a twinkle in his eye.

S-A-N-T-A
S-A-N-T-A
S-A-N-T-A
And Santa is his name-o.

I Am Going Christmas Shopping (Guides, Pathfinders, Rangers)

Sit everyone in a circle. Start the story by saying, "I am going Christmas Shopping. You can come too, if I decide I like what you're going to buy." Then give an example of something that can be purchased while shopping. The secret is that whatever you buy on the shopping trip must start with the same letter as your first name (or, if you want to make it REALLY hard, use your last name!)

For example (a girl named Colleen): "I am going Christmas Shopping, and I will buy a Christmas Tree." (She would be allowed to come).

(A girl named Erica): "I am going Christmas Shopping, and I will buy a Christmas Tree." (She would not be allowed to come)

SECRET: Do not tell the girls that the item must start with the same letter as their first name.

Silver Bells (Guides, Pathfinders, Rangers)

City sidewalk, busy sidewalks. Dressed in holiday style.
In the air there's a feeling of Christmas.
Children laughing, people passing,
Meeting smile after smile,
And on every street corner you'll hear:

Silver bells, silver bells,
It's Christmas time in the city.
Ring-a-ling, hear them ring,
Soon it will be Christmas day.

City street lights, Even stop lights,
Blink a bright red and green,
As the shoppers rush home With their treasures.
Hear the snow crunch, See the kids bunch,
This is Santa's big scene,
And above all this bustle you'll hear:

Silver bells, silver bells,
It's Christmas time in the city.
Ring-a-ling, hear them ring,
Soon it will be Christmas day.

White Christmas (Guides, Pathfinders, Rangers)

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas,
Just like the ones I used to know.
Where the tree-tops glisten,
And children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow.

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas,
With every Christmas card I write,
"May your days be merry and bright,
And may all your Christmases be white".

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas,
Just like the ones I used to know.
Where the tree-tops glisten,
And children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow.

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas,
With every Christmas card I write,
"May your days be merry and bright,
And may all your Christmases be white".

The Night Before Christmas Right / Left Story (All Groups)

I use Right/Left stories for my Christmas Gift exchange activities.  A great alternative to the Chinese Gift Exchange.

Twas the night RIGHT before Christmas when RIGHT through the house
Not a creature was LEFT stirring, not even a mouse
The stockings were hung RIGHT by the chimney with care,
in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be RIGHT there.
The children were nestled RIGHT snug in their beds,
while visions of sugarplums danced RIGHT in their heads,
And mama in her kerchief, and I in my cap,
had just settled RIGHT down for a long winter's nap,
When RIGHT out on the LEFT lawn there rose such a clatter,
I sprang RIGHT from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the RIGHT window I LEFT like a flash;
tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
LEFT a luster of midday to objects RIGHT below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but a miniature sleight and eight tiny reindeer.
With a little old driver RIGHT lively and quick;
I knew RIGHT in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came;
and he whistled and shouted, and called them RIGHT by name:

"Now, Dasher! Now, Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen!
On Comet, on Cupid, on Donder and Blitzen!
To the RIGHT top of the porch! To the LEFT top of the wall!
Now dash away, dash away, dash RIGHT away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly
when they meet RIGHT with an obstacle, mount RIGHT up to the sky,
So up to the housetop the coursers they LEFT flew,
with a sleighful of toys and St. Nicholas, too.
And then in a twinkling, I heard RIGHT on the roof,
the prancing and pawing of each little RIGHT and LEFT hoof.
As I drew in my head and was turning LEFT around
down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, RIGHT from his head to his LEFT foot,
and his clothes were all LEFT tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of toys he had flung RIGHT on his back,

and he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
His RIGHT and LEFT eyes, how they twinkled! His dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was LEFT drawn up like a bow,
and the beard LEFT on his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of a pipe he held RIGHT in his teeth,
and the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a round little belly,
that shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.
He was RIGHT chubby and plump, a RIGHT, RIGHT jolly old elf,
and I laughed when I saw him in spite of myself.
A wink of his LEFT eye and a LEFT twist of his head,
soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went RIGHT straight to his work,
and filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk
And laying his finger to the LEFT of his nose,
and giving a nod, he LEFT up the chimney he rose.
He sprang RIGHT to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
and away they all LEFT like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he LEFT out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night!"

Hear the Bells (Sparks, Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders & Rangers)

Hear the bells ring out at Christmas; can you hear the songs they bring?

Long ago a tiny baby came to Bethlehem as King.

Do you know the simple message of God’s love for us on earth?

Chorus:

Hear the bells!  Hear the bells!

Ringing out on Christmas morn.

Hear the bells!  Hear the bells!

Jesus Christ is born.

In a stable dark and lonely, where among the beasts she lay.

Mary bore her precious baby, laid him gently in the hay.

High above, the angel voices sang rejoicing through the night.

Kings and shepherds came to see him in that stable cold and bare,

For they knew this newborn babe was the Messiah lying there.

And they knelt to pay him homage as they gave their gifts of love.

Hear the bells ring out at Christmas, Do you hear the songs they bring?

How the God of all creation sent his only Son as King.

Have you heard the simple message, still unchanged throughout the years?

Silent Night (Sparks, Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders & Rangers)

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and
Child
Holy Infant
so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Saviour is born
Christ, the Saviour is born

Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth "

Away in a Manger (Sparks, Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders & Rangers)

Away in a manger,
no crib for His bed,
the little Lord Jesus
lay down his sweet head.
the stars in the sky
looked down where He lay
the little Lord Jesus,
asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing,
the poor Baby wakes,
But little Lord Jesus,
no crying He makes;
I love Thee, Lord Jesus,
look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle
till morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus,
I ask Thee to stay,
Close by me forever,
and love me, I pray!
Bless all the dear children
in Thy tender care
And take us to heaven,
to Live with Thee there.

We Wish You a Merry Christmas (Sparks, Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders & Rangers)

We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Good tidings we bring to you and your kin;
Good tidings for Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Christmas Wish Poem

My Christmas wish for you, my friend

Is not a simple one

For I wish you hope and joy and peace

Days filled with warmth and sun

I wish you love and friendship too

Throughout the coming year

Lots of laughter and happiness

To fill your world with cheer

May you count your blessings, one by one

And when total led by the lot

May you find what you’ve been given

To be more than what you sought

May your journeys be short, your burdens light

May your spirit never grow old

May all your clouds have silver linings

And your rainbows pots of gold

I wish this all and so much more

May all your dreams come true

May you have a Merry Christmas friend

And a Happy New Year, too

Lullaby Jesus – Traditional – Poland (All Groups)

Lullaby, Jesus, My dear one, be sleeping,

Lullaby, Jesus, While watch I am keeping.

Chorus:

Lullaby baby, My darling, I love you.

Your mother will sing and so gently will rock you.

When you awaken, Sweet Jesus, I’ll give you

Raisins and almonds, And sweet berries too.

Hush, he is sleeping, While stars shine above us;

Like the bright sun is the sweet baby Jesus.

Night is Falling (All Groups)

Night is falling, stars are bright.

Have I said my last good-night?

Lord above look down on me and help me through the night.

Thank you for a lovely day, thank you for showing me the way.

Thank you for all you have given me,

Good-night, O Lord, good-night.

Taps

Day is done

Gone the sun

From the lake,

From the hills,

From the sky,

All is well

Safely rest

God is nigh.
